The short answer

Most of what makes a business run isn't written down - it's in a few people's heads, scattered across chats and inboxes. AI assistants are finally good enough to help with real work, but two things stop them: there's nothing organized for them to work from, and you can't safely point them at files full of passwords and client data. Becoming AgentReady fixes both, in an order that keeps you in control: get the knowledge into one organized place, clean out anything sensitive, write down what AI may and may not touch, then let an assistant in one careful step at a time. The term and the method are Mandally's, and the method is published free, in the open.

The seven principles

If you remember nothing else, remember these.

01

If it isn't written down, it doesn't exist

Knowledge that lives only in a head is invisible to everyone else - and to AI.

02

One source of truth

One organized home for what the business knows - not three copies that quietly disagree.

03

Plain on top, precise underneath

Write so the same document works for a newcomer and for an AI.

04

Clean before you connect

Remove passwords, keys and personal data before any AI sees a file - not after.

05

AI earns trust in steps

Start it read-only, give it small jobs, widen access only as it proves reliable.

06

Every claim says where it came from

Each statement is tagged - document, conversation, memory, or confirmed by a named person on a date. An answer can be traced, not guessed.

07

Write the truth, not the brochure

Documents say plainly what's unbuilt, unsigned, unverified, and unknown - so no one acts on false confidence.

The AgentReady maturity model

Five levels, from "it's all in our heads" to "AI works from it, safely." Find where you are.

1
Level 1 · Tribal

It's in people's heads

What makes the business run is known by a few people, not written down.

  • Work stops when the key person is away.
  • New hires take months to get up to speed.
  • AI has nothing organized to work from.
2
Level 2 · Written

Captured, but scattered

The knowledge exists in writing - spread across documents, chats and inboxes.

  • Findable, if you know who to ask.
  • No single place you can trust.
  • AI gets conflicting answers from stale copies.
3
Level 3 · Organized

One source of truth

One agreed home, structured by the real areas of your business.

  • People read from it instead of asking around.
  • One place each thing lives.
  • Ready to be made safe for AI.
4
Level 4 · AI-safe

Cleaned and governed

Secrets and personal data are separated out, and access rules are written down.

  • Passwords and client data kept out of bounds.
  • Clear rules for what AI may and may not touch.
  • Safe to connect an assistant.
5
Level 5 · AgentReady

AI works from it - you keep the keys

An assistant works from the base and earns access one careful step at a time.

  • Starts read-only, widens only as it proves out.
  • Helps keep the base current as you grow.
  • You hold the keys to anything that changes the live business.

Questions people ask

What does "AgentReady" mean?

A business is AgentReady when its knowledge is organized, cleaned and governed so AI can work from it safely, with access granted one step at a time. It's both a state to reach and the open method for getting there.

Is AgentReady a product or a method?

Both. The AgentReady Method is the open, published approach - free to read and use. AgentReady Base is the done-with-you setup that applies it to your real files.

How is this different from just using ChatGPT at work?

A chatbot with no access to your knowledge can only answer in general terms. AgentReady gives an assistant an organized, cleaned base to work from - and keeps it on a leash: read-only first, more only as you approve.

How long does it take to become AgentReady?

It depends on how much is already written down and how many areas are in scope. Most of the work is careful capture and cleaning; a Readiness Assessment maps your starting point and a realistic path.

Do we need new software or technical skills?

No. The base is built where your team already works - Microsoft 365, Google Drive or shared folders. It's not a platform to learn.
